Most of what you want to know about your email program is already sitting in your account. Which flow earns the most. Which customers stopped opening months ago. Whether last week's campaign actually beat your own average or just felt like it did.
Getting to any of it meant opening the dashboard and clicking through reports until you found the number. Which is why most of us check properly about once a quarter and guess the rest of the time.
Omnisend shipped an MCP connection that changes the shape of that. You link your Omnisend account to ChatGPT or Claude, then ask in plain language. It reads your live account data, not a generic best-practices answer. And if you tell it to go ahead, it can build the segment or draft the campaign while you're still in the chat.

Browse abandonment sits one step before cart abandonment and it's switched off. Want me to build it?
Illustrative example. Your numbers will be your own.
Below are the three prompts I'd point at an account first, in order. Copy them, run them, and you'll know more about your list in ten minutes than most merchants learn in a quarter.
Question 1: What's actually going on in here?
Start wide. This one gives you the shape of the account before you go looking for anything specific, and it's the fastest way to see whether the connection is working.
Look at my Omnisend account for the last 90 days. Give me a plain-English summary of list size and growth, the revenue split between campaigns and automations, open and click rates compared to my own running average, and the three things most worth fixing. Rank them by revenue impact, not by how quick they are to do.
What you're looking for: the campaign versus automation split. If automations are earning less than about a third of your email revenue, you have flows switched off or built badly, and that's where the next hour of your week should go.
Question 2: Where is the automation money leaking?
Automations are the part of email that earns while you sleep, and the part almost nobody audits. This prompt goes flow by flow and then tells you what you're missing entirely.
Break down my automation revenue by workflow for the last 90 days. For each one, show revenue, orders, and revenue per recipient. Then list the workflows I don't have turned on that stores at my volume usually run, and give me a rough sense of what each missing one could be worth based on my current traffic and order volume. Flag which of my live flows are underperforming their own benchmark.
Treat the estimates on the missing flows as a starting point rather than a forecast. The useful part is the ranking, not the number. Browse abandonment is the one that turns up switched off most often, and it sits one step before cart abandonment in the funnel.
Question 3: Can you build me the campaign, not just tell me about it?
This is where it stops being a reporting tool. You're asking it to create a segment and draft the send, using patterns from your own past campaigns rather than generic advice.
Find customers who have bought at least twice but haven't opened anything in 60 days. Show me the segment size first, before you create anything. If it's worth doing, build that segment in Omnisend and draft a win-back email for it. Base the subject line on patterns that have actually worked in my past campaigns, and tell me which ones you used and why.
The "show me the size first" line matters. It stops the AI building a segment of eleven people and calling it a campaign, and it gives you a decision point before anything is created in your account.
How to actually run these
You need an Omnisend account connected to whichever AI you already use. Three steps, and the whole thing takes about five minutes.
No credit card. Use code JAY30 for 30% off your first three months.
What Omnisend is, if you've never used it
It's the platform your email, SMS, and web push all run from, sitting on top of your Shopify data. The short version of what's in there:
- Email campaigns and SMS from one account, so you're not paying two vendors and reconciling two sets of numbers
- Automations for welcome, cart and checkout abandonment, browse abandonment, post-purchase, and win-back
- Segmentation off behaviour and purchase history, including the AI segment builder
- Popups and signup forms, including two-step and spin-to-win
- Reporting that ties sends to actual orders
- The MCP connection to ChatGPT and Claude that the prompts above run on
What if I'm already on Klaviyo?
This is the real question, and the honest answer is that switching platforms is the part everyone dreads and almost nobody wants to own.
Omnisend does the migration for you. You give their team access, they move your lists, flows, and templates, and they quote five days. There's no charge for it. On cost, their published comparison puts their Standard plan up to 35% under Klaviyo's Marketing plan for equivalent email features.2
If you're on Klaviyo and the only reason you're staying is that moving sounds like a fortnight of your life, that's worth ten minutes of your attention.
Why I partnered with them, and the part I'd want you to know
I've been running online stores since 1998 and building on Shopify since 2009, and I've used most of the email platforms merchants argue about. I picked Omnisend for my own stores before there was a sponsorship, mostly because email and SMS living in one account removes a whole category of problem, and because the pricing scales in a way that doesn't punish you for growing your list.
The limitation worth knowing: the AI connection is genuinely new, and new means you should read what it produces before you act on it. Ask it to show you the segment before it builds one. Read the draft before you schedule it. Omnisend say the same thing themselves, which I took as a good sign. Used that way it's the closest I've come to having a second marketer on the team. Used as autopilot, it'll eventually send something you wish it hadn't.

Questions people ask me about this
Is Omnisend free to try?
Yes. You can start on a free plan without entering a card, connect it to your Shopify store, and see your own data before you decide anything.
What happens to my flows if I switch from Klaviyo?
Omnisend's migration team moves your lists, flows, and templates across. You provide access and they handle the build. Their stated turnaround is five days, and there's no charge for the migration.
Do I need to know how to code to connect the AI part?
No. There's an Omnisend app inside ChatGPT and a connector for Claude. You authorise it the same way you'd connect any other app to your account.
Does Omnisend do SMS as well as email?
Yes, plus web push. All three run from the same account and the same segments, which is the main reason I use it rather than stitching two tools together.
What does Omnisend cost?
Pricing scales with the number of contacts you're mailing. Their published comparison puts their Standard plan up to 35% below Klaviyo's Marketing plan on equivalent email features.2 Current pricing is on their site.
Is this page sponsored?
Yes. Omnisend is the email and SMS partner of Shopify1Percent, and I earn from this partnership. I also use the product on my own stores, and I wrote every word on this page myself.
Or go listen to an episode first. That's genuinely fine too.
