Smart Passive Income Podcast by Pat Flynn: https://www.shopify1percent.com/

Did you know leaving a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review on Spotify, or Apple will give your shop gooood ecommerce karma? ❤️

Hey friends. Welcome to another Shopify1Percent daily short. I'm having so much fun with these shorts. Sometimes I'm walking my dog sometimes. I'm driving. I'm driving right now. But don't worry, I have both hands on my steering wheel. I am using a hands-free microphone and this is completely safe.

But if you do hear a crash all of a sudden, well, that will be the end of this episode. So let's hope that doesn't happen. Really excited about what I wanna share with you today. And this, again, these aren't long, they're just short. Meaningful, impactful things that can make a big difference in your business, because that's what this whole show is about.

The reason why it's called the Shopify 1% podcast is if you improve 1% every day, you'll know this. If you listen to any of my other shows, a 1% improvement per day every year. Every day for a year will 37 XU at the end of a year. That's right. So you'll, you'll increase 3700% because. 1% improvements compound over time.

And that's the whole idea. You don't have to make huge, huge leaps and bounds. You just have to be 1% better every day. And that's the whole reason why I started this show. Okay. So today, the 1% kind of thing I want to talk about well, it's actually two questions that you should ask yourself. The first one is an inspiration from a guy named Pat Flynn.

He's got a great podcast, if you're looking for one. It's called the Smart Passive Income Podcast. It literally been around since I think, 2009. And, uh, it's not specifically an e-commerce podcast, but it's a good show nonetheless. But he said something one time that really stuck with me, and he was, I think, talking to a guest and he just said, "what would it look like if it was easy?"

It struck me so much. I just thought, wow, what a great perspective. What would it look like if it were easy? So I think the guest was talking about growing their business and some challenges they had, and I don't remember the exact challenge they were going through, but I know so many times in my life.

With something I'm doing like this can literally apply to anything in your store, your shipping, your automation, your store creation, your content marketing, your emails, your advertising, just anything. Think about anything and as you're going through it, ask that question in your head, what would this look like if it were easy?

Now, you might not be able to get to easy right away, but you should have a crystal clear. Picture in your head of what it would look like. Okay. So like, let's say you're email marketing, what would it look like if it were easy? Maybe right now it's a, it's a real pain to create the emails, write everything onboard you know, all your different every different email that goes out.

You sit down at your computer and it's just like, oh, I gotta do this again. But what would it look like if it were easy? Well, maybe a lot of your content would come from your customers. Maybe you would have a virtual assistant that would write the emails and then you would just edit it. Maybe you're, maybe you would leverage AI more.

Maybe you would, uh, you know, there's a number of different things. But what would it look like if it was easy? Okay, now, maybe you could implement that today, maybe not. But for every aspect of your business, you should know what it would look like if it were easy. Okay? So that's the first question, just.

Every day, everything you go through today, just ask yourself what would this look like if it were easy and can I, can I work towards that? Can I make it easy now? But I think a lot of us don't even know what it would be if it were easy. And so we feel this stress and anxiety and we feel there's no end in sight.

And we're so busy, we're all busy. I can't keep up. I'm my head's underwater. And you know, all those feelings of anxiety that you get running a business. But what would it look like if it were easy? Because for every single thing you do, there is something that can make it easy. There is a process.

There is a way. Okay. That's the first thing. And the other thought I wanna share, this is kind of two thoughts packed into today's daily shore. But the second thought I wanna share with you is, and I don't remember where I heard this, but someone said to me. One day, you know how you have like a to-do list?

I've got a long to-do list. I don't know about you. I've got a massive to, I have multiple to-do lists. I got to-do lists in my phone. I got to-do lists on my whiteboard in my wall, in my office, on my wall. I got 'em on papers beside my computer. I have 'em in a no notebook in my computer. I literally have to-do lists and ideas everywhere.

One day someone said to me, what do you need to put on your do not do list today? What do you need to stop doing? And I just remember thinking, huh, I never really thought about that. And then I looked down at my list and I saw a lot of things that, yeah, this probably should be on my "do not do" list. And so the question is to ask yourself, what do you need to not do today?

What do you need to stop doing today? What do you maybe need to stop doing forever? What do you need to put on your do not do list? So look at all the things that you think you need to do and what do you need to put on your do not do list, because at the end of the day, you know, there's the 80/20 rule, it's probably more like the 90/10 or the 95/5 rule.

Like if you look back at the last year, and if I said what. Made the most impact in your business? What was the most important things you did, you that moved the needle? You probably could think of a few things. Like, there's probably a few significant things that you did. You, you might have said, you know what, we launched that, that white label creator program, or, you know what?

We revamped all of our ads to UGC content videos rather than still images or something. Um, or. There's, there's gonna be something that you did that you can look back on and say, you know what? That moved the needle. And now looking forward, looking down on your list right now, wherever it is, if it's on your computer, if it's on a paper, I promise you there's things on that list that are gonna significantly move the needle.

And there are things that are just busy work and you need to not do them. Don't even put 'em off. Just actually cross them off. It's an extremely hard thing to do, but that's at the end of the day what you need to do to be successful. So the question is, what do you need to put on your do not do list today?

I challenge all of you to find at least one thing. I'm thinking about mine right now. There's, there's probably about eight or nine things I actually need to just cross off and put 'em on my do not do list. And you know what? Sometimes. It's not something on your list. Maybe it's just something you need to not do today.

This sounds weird, but maybe you need to not check email today. Put that on your do not let do list today. Maybe today you need to not check notifications. Turn all notifications off and don't check email for one day and focus on deep work for some project that's on that list some. So one of those things that you know you need to get done.

What are you gonna not do to make sure it gets done? Okay, so that's it for today. Those are my two things. What would this look like if it were easy? And what do I need to put on my do not do list? Ask those two questions to yourself today, and it will make a 1% probably more impact in your business.

Thanks so much for listening.
